HUNTER DIVISION

LOW CHILDREN'S HUNTER DIVISION

CROSSRAIL DIVISION
Entry fee: $20.00 class. Open to junior and adult riders. Riders may not compete in any other division at any show, except for Beginner Division. Fences to be set at 18" and may be taken at a trot or canter at the option of the rider. Formal riding attire not required.
BEGINNER HUNTER DIVISION
Entry fee: $20 per class. Riders may not compete in any other
division except Crossrail Division. To be shown over 4 to 8 fences at a height of 18". The fences shall be
crossed rails or verticals with no combinations. To be judged on performance
and soundness. Formal riding attire not required.
CHILDREN'S HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $100 or $30/class.
To be shown by Junior exhibitors. Fences up to 3'. Riders in this
division may not cross enter into the Junior Hunter division at the same show.
UNRESTRICTED JUNIOR/ADULT
HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $20 per class To be shown by Junior or Adult Amateur
exhibitors. Fences up to 2'6".
ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $100 or $30/class. To be ridden by amateurs who are no longer eligible to compete
as junior exhibitors. Fences up to 3'. Riders in this division may not
cross enter into the Amateur Owner Hunter division at the same show.
AMATEUR OWNER WORKING HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $125.00 or $35/class. To be ridden by Amateur
Owners or an amateur member of the owner's family. In either case, classes
are restricted to riders who are no longer eligible to compete as junior
exhibitors. Fences up to 3' 6". Riders in this division may not
cross enter into the Adult Amateur Hunter division at the same show.
JUNIOR WORKING HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $125.00 or $35/class
To be shown by Junior exhibitors. Riders in this division may not cross
enter into the Children's Hunter division at the same show. Fences up to 3'6".
PRE-GREEN HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $125.00 or $35/class
A Pre-Green Hunter is a
horse of any age in its first or second year of showing over 3' to 3'3" fences
at Regular Member or Canadian Equestrian Federation or any national or
international competition in any classes that require horses to jump 3' to 3'3"
or higher. Fences not to exceed 3'3". Once a horse has shown 3'6" he is not
eligible the following year to compete in that division, regardless of age.
GREEN WORKING HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $125.00 or $35/class. A Green Working Hunter is a horse of any age
in his first or second year of showing (whether judged or not) in any class at
regular member shows that require horses to jump 3'6" or higher, equitation
classes included. In classes under saddle, entries not required to gallop.
In classes over fences, first year horses to jump 3'6", second year horses,
3'9". All classes to be judged on performance and soundness.
REGULAR WORKING HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $125 or $35/class. A Regular Working Hunter
is not restricted to previous winnings or years of showing. In classes
over fences, horses to jump 4'.

PONY HUNTER DIVISION
Division fee: $100 or $30/class. Classes limited to ponies 14.2 hands and under and riders who have not reached their 18th birthday. No pony may be shown in this division unless the owner possesses a current measurement card or form issued by the USEF. In classes over fences, ponies not exceeding 12.2 hands to jump 2'3", ponies over 12.2 hands but not exceeding 13.2 hands to jump 2'6", ponies over 13.2 hands but not exceeding 14.2 hands to jump 3'. All classes to be judged on performance and soundness. Manners and suitability of the pony for the rider shall be emphasized and extreme speed penalized.

EQUITATION DIVISION
MEF HUNT SEAT MEDAL CLASS
Entry fee: $25.00 Open to junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday. All riders are required to perform over at least 8 jumps not exceeding 3'3". One or more individual tests of the top 4 riders may be requested at the judges discretion. USEF Test 1-18. To fill a class, at least four competitors must complete the course. Award: 1st place Medal & ribbons to 8th place.
USEF HUNTER SEAT MEDAL
Entry fee: $30.00 Open to junior members of the USEF who have not reached their 18th birthday. Application for membership must be made directly to the USEF office, or through the steward prior to the class. To be shown over a course of not less than 8 obstacles at 3'6" which must include one combination including an oxer and two changes of direction (change of lead) after the first obstacle.
MEF CHILDREN'S PONY MEDAL
Entry fee: $25.00 Open to junior members of the USEF on ponies 14.2 hands and under. Fences 2' for Smalls and Mediums, 2'6" for Larges. Award: 1st place Medal & ribbons to 8th place.

ASPCA MACLAY HORSEMANSHIP CLASS
Entry fee: $30.00 Open to junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday. All participants in this class must be members of the ASPCA. Tests 1-19
PLATINUM PERFORMANCE/USEF SHOW JUMPING TALENT SEARCH
Entry fee: $30.00 Open to U.S. citizens who are members of the USET and the AHSA, who have not reached their 21st birthday and are either junior or Young Riders and are Amateurs under AHSA/FEI rules. The over fences phase of the class shall be over a special course of at least ten fences 3'6" -3'9" in height with spreads to 5 ft. Wings shall be no wider than 36". The course must include a double and a triple combination, with at least one spread fence in each. Two other spread fences are required elsewhere on the course and an obstacle with water is recommended (will be obligatory in the finals).
ARIAT NATIONAL ADULT MEDAL
$30.00 Open to all Amateur members of the USEF and CEF who are eligible to
compete in the Adult Amateur Hunter Section at this show. A rider may not
compete at the same horse show in any hunter or equitation class in which the
jumps exceed three feet, three inches (3'3").
To be shown over a minimum of eight fences 2'9" to 3' in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The course may be either a Jumper or Hunter type course and must include at least two changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles (i.e.; water jump, liverpool) are not permitted. The top four riders are required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF Tests 1-19. An Open Numerical Scoring System must be used in the first round, with each rider's score announced at the completion of their round. There is no minimum requirement to fill the class.
MEF CHILDREN'S MEDAL
Entry fee: $25.00 Open to junior riders of the USEF and CEF who have never competed in a National Equitation Final with fences at 3'6" (i.e. USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USET, etc.). To be shown over a minimum of eight fences 2'9" to 3' in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The course may be either a hunter or jumper type course and must include at least 2 changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles (i.e. water jump, liver pool) are not permitted. The top 4 riders or 20% of the first round competitors, whichever is greater are required to perform at least 2 individual tests from USEF Tests 1-19. round. Entries must have shown in at least one other Jumper class at this
show. Riders will be placed as an Individual, and as a Team.
Medals will be awarded to all of the winning riders in the class,
with their respective National Anthem being played in their honor.
"The DEC Can-Am Hunter Classic",

THE $500 CHRIS GRAHL MEMORIAL JUMPER CLASSIC
Entry fee: $40.00 Open to all riders. Prize: Ribbons to 8th, plus $500 purse to be awarded as follows: 1st: $150, 2nd: $125, 3rd: $100, 4th: $75, 5th: $25, 6th: $25. Table II, Sec 2(a) Time first jump-off. To be shown over a course of approx. 10-12 jumps, 3'6" to 3'9" in height with spreads to 3'9". After the first round, in the event of equality of faults for first place only, there will be one jump-off in which time will decide. The remaining competitors will be classified according to their faults only in the first round. Entries must have shown in one other Jumper class at this show. Winners will receive points to compete in The Chris Grahl Memorial Jumper Classic Championship class at the end of the winter series. The winner of the Championship class at the end of the season will receive The Chris Grahl Jumper Class Memorial Trophy, donated by The Franklin Saddler in memory of Bob Thiel.
DEC PARENTS LEADLINE
For once the parents get to have some fun at
a horse show! In this class, the parent of any of the riders entered in the
show will ride their child's horse. Each parent must be lead by their
child (if over 14 years of age) or the trainer and the child (if under 14). The parent will be judge on their hands, seat and heels at the
walk. Neither parent or leader need to be in show attire, however the
rider must wear an approved helmet. ENTRY FEE: $10.00 Proceeds to go
to the Hang On to the Dream Foundation, a national 501 (c) 3, non-profit organization
that helps kids reach their goals in life.
DEC TRAINER/STUDENT CHALLENGE
Entry Fee: $20 This 2-round class consists of a team of 2 riders and 1 horse; 1
professional rider and 1 junior or amateur adult rider. The professional may be
on more than one team, the junior or amateur may compete on only one team.
The professional will ride first over a hunter course of at least 8 fences not to
exceed 3'. The junior or amateur will ride in the second round. The
combination scores of the two riders shall determine their placings.
DEC
SALE HORSE CLASS
Entry fee: $30. Open to show horses and ponies only that are entered
to compete in at least 2 other classes at the DEC Winter Classic Horse Show.
Each horse will enter the ring, one at a time, and show at the walk, trot and
canter, once around the ring in each direction. After their flat
demonstration, they will immediately perform over a minimum of 8 fences,
either at the 2'6", 3' or 3'6" height. Height selection is at the rider’s
discretion. At the conclusion of the class, these horses may be tried by
prospective buyers and/or lessees, also at the owner’s discretion. Similar to
a "ticketed warm-up", this class is open to ponies, hunters and jumpers alike,
thus, this class will not be judged.
Attire and appointments:
All riders in this class must wear an approved helmet, breeches and boots. NO JEANS AND/OR CHAPS ALLOWED. For horses and ponies, martingales and boots are permitted, but NO DRAWREINS. NOTE: This class is offered as a courtesy to our exhibitors and spectators and The Detroit Equestrian Club, Michigan Equestrian Federation and/or United States Equestrian Federation make no warranty as to the soundness or usefulness of any horse exhibited in this class.
Additional Awards
DEC
Sportsmanship Award
Each rider will receive an
arm band which will signify to the judge and show management that they are entered for special
consideration. Competitors will be judged on their overall horsemanship,
both while mounted and unmounted. The arm band must be worn at all times
while on the show grounds in order to receive highest consideration. Entry
fee: $20.00.
Best Rider Awards
Best Rider Awards will be given in the
following categories, not necessarily reflective of a rider's actual placings:
Best Child Rider
To be awarded to the Junior rider entered and showing in the Hunt Seat
Equitation and Hunter Division, who in the opinion of the judges, is the best
rider.
Best Adult Rider
To be awarded to the Adult Amateur rider entered and showing in the Hunt Seat
Equitation and Hunter Division, who in the opinion of the judges, is the best
rider.
Best Pony Rider
To be awarded to the Junior rider entered and showing in the Pony Hunter or
Children's Pony Hunter Divisions, who in the opinion of the judges, is the best
rider.
Best Beginner Rider
T o be awarded to the beginner rider entered and showing in the Crossrail and
Beginner Divisions, who in the opinion of the judges, is the best rider.
Stylish Rider Award
To be awarded to
any Junior or Adult Rider who in the judges opinion displays the neatest attire.
